Edging irons

Digging and weeding

Sometime called a half moon cutter, a lawn edging iron is specifically designed to produce a nice straight well defined edge to your lawn or border. Edging irons are different to spades in that the blade is perfectly straight, not slightly curved like most spades.

For the perfect edge to your lawn, lay a straight edged board on the ground and use it as a guide for the cut. Make the cut slope away from the lawn to prevent the edge collapsing.

When choosing an edging iron, bear in mind that polished stainless steel models will cut more smoothly and stick less than other types.
